Water Infrastructure Progress: Advancements with Urban Utilities

Explore the advancements in our Water Infrastructure Progress with Urban Utilities.

ESG Alignment

Diona, in collaboration with Urban Utilities, is at the forefront of developing and implementing environmentally-conscious projects aimed at strengthening water services. Our current initiatives include expanding efficient water recycling systems, modernising aging infrastructure to reduce leaks and water loss, and implementing advanced water treatment technologies that ensure purity and reliability. By focusing on sustainable practices and innovations, these projects not only enhance water security but also contribute to ecological preservation, crucial for community resilience and environmental stewardship in both urban and rural settings.

SDGs: 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)

As we continue with essential water upgrades across the Urban Utilities service area, the first quarter of 2024 has seen us advancing works as part of its Water North Zones Program. Here’s the latest on the projects we are leading to enhance water infrastructure across the region:

Eildon Hill, Windsor Reservoir

With pre-construction activities in full swing, the Eildon Hill Reservoir and trunk mains rehabilitation project is set to enhance asset integrity and ensure reliable water service. Dating back to 1930, this iconic reservoir is ready for modern upgrades while preserving its historic charm, a treasured part of the community’s heritage.

Watermain Upgrades

Our team is hard at work in Indooroopilly, Ascot, Milton, Spring Hill, and Paddington, installing approximately 2,500 meters of new water mains. By coordinating closely with local schools, residents, and businesses, and employing non-destructive methods such as horizontal directional drilling, we are minimising both community and environmental impact.

Appleby Road, Stafford Heights

The recently completed upgrade of the water booster station, including a new and improved switchboard, enhances operational efficiency and safety, securing continuous water service for the local community.

Mental Health Awareness in Partnership with TradeMutt

We recently teamed up with TradeMutt to create customised hi-vis shirts that promote mental health awareness. The vibrant shirts not only stand out but have sparked over 600 conversations about mental health. We’re proud to support TradeMutt in this initiative, which keeps mental health at the forefront of our community. Thank you to Embroidery Excellence Brisbane for their assistance in bringing these shirts to life.

Stay connected with us for more updates as we continue to shape a more sustainable and connected future across the Urban Utilities service area, and in every community we serve.
