Diona and Urban Utilities: Steering Towards a Sustainable Water Future

ESG Alignment

This event supports our dedication to environmental stewardship and water sustainability. By engaging the community through educational activities about the water cycle and sustainable water management, we aim to raise awareness and foster a collective responsibility towards conserving our water resources. The focus on interactive and educational displays at the Esk Show helps to instil a deeper understanding of environmental impacts among participants of all ages.

The event facilitates community engagement and education, crucial components of social sustainability. By involving children and adults in interactive learning experiences like the digger demonstration and water cycle education, it promotes social interaction and community participation. It also fosters a greater understanding of important infrastructure and environmental projects within the community, contributing to public well-being and awareness.

What an Incredible Weekend at the Esk Show!

We had the pleasure of partnering with Urban Utilities for an unforgettable experience at the Esk Show in Queensland. Our 14-year partnership with Urban Utilities has been pivotal in driving sustainability and efficiency in water management across northern Brisbane, the Lockyer Valley, and Somerset council regions.

Despite a bit of rain during setup, our spirits weren’t dampened! By opening time, everything was in place, and thankfully, the weather cleared up just in time for the festivities. We set up the Urban Utilities marquees right beside our crowd-favourite digger, complete with children’s tables for colouring and a sandpit filled with toy construction equipment. Here, kids could dig in and imagine building their own reservoir, mirroring our real-world efforts to enhance the reliability and security of our water services.

The digger was a huge hit! Children and adults alike were thrilled to sit in the driver’s seat, operate the levers, and learn how these powerful machines help us in projects like the Esk Reservoir. The joy and excitement on their faces were truly heartwarming – a vivid reminder of the connection created through community engagement.

Throughout the weekend, we engaged with over 900 attendees, sharing insights about the Urban Water Cycle and our projects. Our giveaways – shower timers, reusable sandwich bags, and colouring sheets – not only delighted the crowd but also emphasised our commitment to sustainability.

A massive thank you to everyone involved in making this event a success. Here’s to many more, as we continue to steer towards a more reliable and sustainable water future for all!
