ESG Alignment
Implementation of eco-friendly stormwater and water supply projects to enhance environment and infrastructure.
SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)
Diona is pleased to announce the award of two projects with Hunter Water, the Stormwater Amenity Improvement Project which will enhance the ecological and aesthetic value of three stormwater channels in Newcastle, and the Cameron Park Reservoir and Water Supply Upgrade project a new build of a 3.25ML water storage facility.
Project Manager, Iain Thomas says the team are excited about these new projects and looking forward to getting started.
“It’s great to be able to offer our team variety in the types of projects they can work on. The stormwater amenity package will be interesting and rewarding with the added challenge of managing storm and tidal flows during construction.
Seeing what was achieved in Sydney on similar projects, it’s satisfying to turn a bland concrete channel into a waterway that is healthier, and visually enhanced for the local Community to enjoy.”
Diona was appointed to the Hunter Water Plumbing Maintenance and Civil Construction Services panel in 2021 and secured a contract to deliver the Wyee Transfer Scheme Package A in mid-2022, which is nearing completion.
Thomas Melvin, General Manager for Diona’s NSW operations said that securing these two contracts provides a solid forward pipeline for our local team and supply chain.
“We’re looking to continue building our team locally and strengthening our relationship with Hunter Water. The team have done a great job on Wyee and we are glad to keep this momentum going with two new projects to move onto.”
These projects mark a significant stride in enhancing Newcastle’s urban and environmental landscape.
