Inspire Inclusion Fun Run: Team Diona Gals and Pals Embrace International Women’s Day

This year, Team Diona Gals and Pals was proud to participate in the International Women’s Day Fun Run, an inspiring gathering of over 26,000 individuals committed to supporting women with breast cancer. The route from South Bank to the City Botanic Gardens offered breathtaking views of Brisbane showcasing the city’s landmarks and inherent beauty.

Through our participation, we were part of a significant effort that raised a remarkable total of $1.78 million for breast cancer support and research. This initiative, organised by Queensland X-Ray, showcased the power of community and the impactful results we can achieve together. Our collective action aligned perfectly with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, Inspire Inclusion, highlighting the importance of coming together for a cause that touches many lives.

In the spirit of Inspire Inclusion, we also celebrated the powerful story of Lisa, our Community Relations Advisor, whose courageous journey through breast cancer is a beacon of hope and a testament to the strength of our community. Lisa’s experience, shared last Friday, highlights the significance of empathy, support, and inclusivity, resonating deeply with the cause we ran for. “Coming to work made me feel ‘normal’, it was the only time I didn’t feel like a cancer patient,” Lisa reflected, highlighting how vital our collective support is for those battling breast cancer.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who joined us in walking, jogging, and running, and to Lisa for sharing her inspiring story. Your participation and courage are steps towards a more inclusive environment for women battling breast cancer, reflecting our shared commitment to make a positive impact.
