Scott Street Dandenong Gas Main Renewal
Multinet Gas Networks
Dandenong, Victoria, Australia
Diona was engaged to replace low pressure mains in Scott Street Dandenong as part of a mains upgrade program by client Multinet Gas Networks.
Diona delivered the upgrade of approximately 8.8 kilometres of low-pressure gas distribution mains and the construction of 1.2 kilometres of DN180 high pressure gas main.
The Multinet Gas Mains Replacement Program aims to replace the low pressure mains with high pressure, polyethylene mains to not only significantly improve the reliability of the network, but also increase the capacity of the network to account for growth in consumer demand.
The mains were replaced by inserting new high pressure DN63 poly main into the existing low pressure main. This method reduces the number and size of excavations required in the street and ensures disruptions to the resident are kept to a minimum. In conjunction with the upgrade of the main, approximately 900 property services were upgraded to high pressure.
Works were undertaken within the densely populated residential and commercial areas of Dandenong, which presented many challenges including traffic and pedestrian management. Diona was able to navigate these challenges using clear communication with all stakeholders (residents and business owners).
The project was delivered approximately two months ahead of program.
