Sydney Metro is a new world-class railway for Sydney. Services started in the city’s north west from Rouse Hill to Chatswood in May 2019 on Australia’s first fully-automated railway, with 13 metro stations and 4,000 new commuter car parking spaces.

A new generation of metro trains runs every four minutes in the peak in each direction. Customers don’t need a timetable, they’ll just turn up and go.

The mains were required to be relocated in order for the final sections of rail track on the North West Rail Corridor to be laid to allow the rail system to be linked up to Tallawong Station, the north west most station on the metro.

Diona’s scope of works involves the installation of the following mains using conventional methods:

  • 45m Dn750 DICL Potable Water
  • 305m DN250 DICL Potable Water
  • 245m OD1000 PE Potable Water
  • 295m OD315 PE Potable Water
  • 15m DN200 DICL Recycled Water
  • 45m DN150 DICL Recycled Water
  • 155m DN200 PVC Recycled Water
  • 295m OD280 PE Recycled Water
  • 27m OD219 SCL Recycled Water

The works included the installation of valves, hydrants and scour pits and the decommissioning of disused mains. A series of connections were required to commission the new mains.
