Diona wins a National CCF Award
Diona, in partnership with Urban Utilities, is thrilled to have won the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) National Earth Award Category 2: Project Value $2-5m for the Brisbane CBD Mains Renewal Project.
Brian Judge, Project Manager for Diona says working in the CBD environment is another level due to additional complexity and logistics needed.
“When you think about the nature of a CBD environment with 3,000 residential and commercial customers, logistics, 34 network isolations, pedestrian & traffic management, unchartered services and other additional challenges, there is an immense amount of effort and care that goes into planning and delivering these works on top of ensuring customer and community needs are central in every decision.
This is the work the team and crew does daily, and we just get in and get it done, but when we sat down to write the award submission, we realized how much work actually went into the project and all the people involved in making it a success. I am very thankful for and proud of each person who contributed to this project, this award is a great acknowledgement for the framework model and one team approach,” he said.
Daniel Muir, Program Manager – Water Integrated Solutions for Urban Utilities agreed that the CBD is one of the most challenging environments for installing new infrastructure.
“With the volume of existing services, both known and unknown, and the high density of pedestrians, traffic, residents and businesses in the area, it requires a real team effort across design, community engagement and construction teams to manage the daily challenges that are encountered. This award is a fantastic recognition of the effort by everyone to make sure work was able to continue without delay or issue regardless of any challenges that were faced, ensuring a great outcome for Urban Utilities and our customers,” said Daniel.
Diona’s Queensland State Manager, Richard Willis said he was extremely proud of the team and what they have achieved throughout the first year of the Urban Utilities Water North Zones Program.
“This is the first national CCF award for Diona Queensland and is recognition of the passion, hard work and dedication our people put in every day for our clients and the community and to have this acknowledged by the industry is an outstanding achievement,” said Richard.
Congratulations to the Diona and Urban Utilities teams and also to all the other winners and finalists of these awards.
