Keeping the community moving in Ballarat

Diona has commenced work on stage 1 of the Ballarat Sewer Build for Central Highlands Water. This is a major upgrade in the network's 100-year history. Keeping the local community moving, with minimal interruption is a priority for CHW and Diona.

“Working in complex urban environments is what Diona does best. Through early consultation with Central Highlands Water and other stakeholders we have identified alternative construction methods that will allow us to move through the streets quickly in sections of 10 to 30 metres at a time, reducing impact to business, traffic and pedestrians,” said Diona Project Manager, Jack Barrett.

“Microtunnelling drills will be used for major road crossings so that roads can remain open to traffic. And off-site compounds will house large equipment, materials and site offices, which also minimises the size of our worksites in the CBD.”
