Creating Community Connection at the Esk Show 2025

ESG Alignment

By raising awareness about the new Esk Reservoir and its role in ensuring long-term water security, the event helped reinforce the importance of sustainable water infrastructure. Educating the community on these environmental investments encourages support for projects that promote resource conservation and climate resilience.

The Esk Show provided an inclusive, engaging space to connect with residents of all ages, strengthening relationships and building trust. Through interactive displays, career information, and direct conversations, the initiative promoted community inclusion, education, and a stronger sense of local ownership over essential infrastructure.

Participating in the Esk Show demonstrated a commitment to transparent, accountable project delivery. By sharing updates, answering questions, and providing a visible presence in the community, Diona and Urban Utilities showcased responsible governance and ongoing engagement with stakeholders.

On Saturday 24 May, Urban Utilities and Diona proudly returned to support the Esk Show for the third consecutive year. As a long-standing community event, the Esk Show once again provided a valuable platform to connect with local residents, share updates, and answer questions about the new water reservoir, an essential infrastructure project set to enhance water security for the township for generations to come.

“The Esk Reservoir is a vital investment in the long-term water security of the region, and we’re proud to be part of a project that will deliver real benefits for the community. Events like the Esk Show give us the opportunity to connect face-to-face, provide updates, and hear directly from residents. It’s a reminder that great infrastructure is not just about what we build, but about the relationships we build along the way,” said Melanie Skyring, Community Relations Manager.

Building on the success of previous years, our interactive stand offered something for everyone. With a 15-metre frontage, it quickly became known as the “shady” spot, attracting families who stayed to enjoy a range of engaging and educational activities. Children were excited to climb into the cab of a real digger for a photo, play in the sandpit filled with toy construction equipment, and get involved with colouring-in activities. Many young visitors proudly posed in our mini high-vis gear, creating plenty of fun photo opportunities. For those curious about the industry, career information was available to help inspire the next generation of water and construction professionals.

A timelapse video of the reservoir construction drew strong interest, providing visitors with a behind-the-scenes look at the works taking place in their own community.

The success of the event is a testament to the incredible team effort behind the scenes—from the logistics of transporting and preparing equipment, to set-up, safety coordination, and volunteer support on the day. A sincere thank you to everyone involved.

For more than 15 years, Diona has proudly partnered with Urban Utilities to deliver sustainable water solutions across northern Brisbane, the Lockyer Valley and the Somerset region. Events like the Esk Show highlight the importance of staying connected with the communities we serve and making infrastructure real and relevant for people of all ages.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We’re proud to continue helping our local communities thrive.
