Community-centric approach to critical infrastructure delivery
ESG Alignment
The Belmont South watermain project enhances sustainable water management by supporting the Belmont Desalination Plant while fostering early environmental awareness through safety education.
Social responsibility is at the heart of this initiative. Engaging with Creative Kids Preschool strengthens community relationships and ensures local residents feel valued. By sparking interest in STEM careers, this initiative also inspires the next generation of engineers and construction professionals. Diona’s commitment to minimising disruptions reflects a people-first approach, prioritising community well-being alongside project delivery.
This week, we had the privilege of engaging with some of our youngest neighbours at Creative Kids Preschool, who not only got to see the diggers in action and experience the excitement of construction up close, but also learned about safety around our works!
At Diona, we believe every project is an opportunity to engage meaningfully with the communities where we work. Together with Hunter Water, our team at the Belmont South Watermain Project has embraced a proactive, community-focused approach to construction.
David Crowhurst, our National Manager Stakeholder Engagement, shared:
“Engaging with local communities is at the heart of what we do. This project is not just about building infrastructure; it’s about creating connections and ensuring our work has a positive impact on the people who live and work around us. Collaborating with Creative Kids Preschool is a great example of how we can inspire future generations while delivering sustainable solutions for our communities.”
We’re also working closely with the preschool to minimise disruptions during nap times and drop-off/pick-up hours—because every small detail counts in making a big difference.
This small but impactful initiative not only delighted the children but also demonstrated our commitment to collaboration and delivering value beyond the worksite. A big thank you to Creative Kids Preschool for their warm welcome and enthusiasm, and well done to the Diona and Hunter Water teams for making this initiative a success.
