New South Wales-based civil engineering contractor Diona Pty Ltd, with its highly qualified and experienced management team, specialist design engineers, skilled field personnel, and a large range of specialist plant and equipment, is building on its reputation as utility asset owner's preferred contractor.
Whatever the asset-Diona delivers! Diona has a twenty-eight year history in the infrastructure industry and is an accredited service provider to AGL, Sydney Water, Telstra, TransGrid, Brisbane Water, Gold Coast Desalination Alliance, Delta Energy, Energy Australia and Energex.
Diona Pty Ltd specialise in design and construct contracts including:
- Gas Pipelines and services
- Power cables and cable joining
- Water and Sewerage mains, including pumping stations
- Telecommunication cable and conduits
- Storm water pipes and pits, including water channels and culverts
- Directional drilling and horizontal boring operations and installations
Diona Pty Ltd is presently constructing a number of projects throughout New South Wales and Queensland, one of which is the Delta Colongra Lateral Pipeline, a 42-inch gas pipelining of heavy wall pipe on the central coast. This is one of few projects of its type in the world and the largest gas pipe of its type installed in Australia. Diona was required to purchase an array of equipment to facilitate the completion of this contract. A significant part of this investment included the purchase of four new Kobelco SK480LC-8 excavators for excavation and craning operations.
Diona spend considerable time and effort scrutinising and testing the various machines available on the market to establish which would suit the job application.
"Kobelco was the only machine that did not creep when lifting the 8 tonne steel pipes used on this contract, a requirement no other machine on the market could match", said Diona's General Manager David O'Connor.
David said that Diona was extremely satisfied with the Kobelco SK480LC-8 excavators and with the ongoing support provided by Gato Repairs, the Newcastle and Hunter Valley dealer for Kobelco.
"Diona has had a long relationship with Kobelco and with Gato Sales and still has the first Kobelco machine bought back in 1990( a 912 MK2 ) which still actively serves in the Diona fleet", said David.
Diona's plant fleet comprises over 300 items of plant and equipment and includes Kobelco excavators ranging in size from 2 tonnes to 48 tonnes.
